ED BLOCH, LSCSW
has been treating eating disorders for 15 years. Ed and his wife Jena are Co-Owners of the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) in Lawrence, Kansas. Ed is a former Director for the Rader Institute, one of the first nationally recognized treatment programs to identify the need for specialized eating disorder treatment. He also directed an inpatient program for survivors of sexual abuse. Ed has Served as a clinical consultant to inpatient and residential programs, and as an education consultant for school districts and professional organizations. For six years Ed was an instructor at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology in California; facilitating courses in Eating Disorder Diagnosis and Treatment, Counseling Techniques, Counseling Theory, and Substance Abuse. Ed was Founder and Director of Comprehensive Eating Disorder Treatment Centers in Southern California where hundreds of individuals were treated successfully in an non-restrictive outpatient setting.,
 
 
JENA BLOCH, LCMFT received her Master's Degree in Psychology from Antioch University in Southern California with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jena is co-director of the Life Enrichment Center, LLC in Lawrence, KS. After attaining her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Kansas State University, Jena spent 8 years in Southern California honing her skills in working with eating disordered individuals. She worked with Monte Nido Treatment Facility, a residential eating disorder treatment program. Jena has served as a consultant to school districts, Beach Cities Health District, professional organizations, and has worked closely with dieticians and nutritionists in developing strategies and programs for overcoming disordered eating, including a unique workshop on Living Diet and Eating Disorder Free, a program that helps individuals escape the diet mentality and the diet merry-go-round. Jena's personal experience has made her passionate about assisting others with their struggles and showing others the possibilities they have in their lives.
LAURA LAVOIE, LPC

earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas. As part of her master’s program, Laura spent a year at the Life Enrichment Center counseling clients on an individual basis as well as leading a group for women struggling with eating disorders. Laura’s passion for helping those with eating disorders had its birth in the college athletic world where she enjoyed competing at the national level but also witnessed the devastating effects of dieting taken to an extreme. She now strives to dispel the myth that one must live up to the current cultural standards in order to be healthy and happy. Using a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Laura guides clients in making changes in their behaviors and thinking patterns in order to live full, authentic lives. She enjoys working with a wide variety of clients and specializes in eating disorders and disorders of the anxiety and depression spectrum.

 

ABBEY CAMPBELL is a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and will soon attain her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology also at the University of Kansas. Currently Abbey is completing practicum at LEC under supervision of Ed and Jena Bloch.  She also is assisting with Brain State Training, a non-treatment option offered at by LEC affiliate Brain Balance Centers of Kansas.  As a practicum student, Abbey sees psychotherapy clients individually or as families, as well as in group treatment. Abbey’s primary areas fof interest include eating disorders and body image, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.  She enjoys exploring individuals’ strengths and assisting clients with achieving inner harmony.
